Sacromonte Caves Museum

The romanis, now better known as gypsies, settled in Granada in the 18th century on Cerro de San Miguel. For centuries the caves of Sacromonte, next to the slopes of a ravine, were their home.

In this ethnographic museum of Sacromonte you can explore 10 fully recreated caves, and learn about their culture, the diverse geography of the region and the lifestyle that these early Grenadian gypsies carried. You can also enjoy sensational views of the Alhambra!

You can see what the homes were like and their layout, the decoration, made from very basic tools, traditional craftsmanship: basketry, ceramics, textiles and fakes.

There is a room dedicated to nature, where you can delve into agriculture, plants and the climate that helped them to live off the land for generations.

Within the museum also part with a path that leads to a real-size model of the Darro Valley, with magnificent views over the valley and the Alhambra.
