Many people do not think that a child learns math until they are in school, but math begins much younger. Preschool math skills include recognizing numbers, shapes, and patterns. Children should be able to count to 10 ideally by the time they are in Kindergarten, and know simple directions. Using lesson plans, you can help with writing a paper your preschooler learn math skills, and have fun doing it.
Connect the Dots
Children love to draw, and creating a picture by drawing lines between dots teaches them along the way. Pictures can be of shapes to learn more math skills. Whatever the drawing, you want to be able to have it connect in five to ten numbers. You are teaching sequencing and numbers. As children learn to count, you can start using higher numbers.
Play the Counting Game
You can count everything when you are with preschoolers. Count the number of fingers and toes, or the number of eggs you are using in dinner. The more you use numbers, the faster the child will learn the order. You do not have to wait until they are preschool age either. Children can be read to and enjoy counting as soon as they are born.
Turn Snack Time into a Lesson
If you give your child goldfish for snack, you can practice counting them out. However, if you are looking at having a little more fun, and do not mind candy, you can offer the child M&Ms.; Create a pattern with the M&M; colors and have the child finish the string. You can make several strings and the child eats the candies after successfully completing a pattern. This can also be completed with Rainbow Goldfish.
