Jocelyn Pook nació en Londres (Reino Unido) en 1964. Estudió violín y viola en el Guildhall School of MusicDrama, y posteriormente se unió al grupo “Communards”. Ha trabajado en el teatro, televisión y en el cine, debutando en la película de Stanley Kubrick, con varios temas de la banda sonora de “Eyes wide shut” (1999), protagonizada por Tom Cruise y Nicole Kidman. Con posterioridad ha compuesto, entre otras, las bandas sonoras de “El mercader de Venecia” (2004), dirigida por Michael Radford y protagonizada por Al Pacino y Jeremy Irons; “Caótica Ana” (2007) y “Habitación en Roma”, dirigidas por Julio Medem; y Bricklane (2007), dirigida por Sarah Gavron. En el año 2015 compuso la banda sonora de la obra de teatro “King Charles III”, dirigida por Mike Bartlett y premiada con el Olivier Award (2015) como mejor obra del año 2015.
Jocelyn Pook ha colaborado con grupos y músicos de la talla de Massive Attack, Nick Cave, Philip Glass, Michael Nyman, Peter Gabriel o Ryuichi Sakamoto. Sus primeros trabajos discográficos, “Flood” (1999) y “Untold things” (2001) fueron grabados con el sello Real World, fundado por Peter Gabriel.
En este concierto se hará un recorrido por la música de las películas del ciclo de cine que la Filmoteca CajaCanarias acogerá en el mes de noviembre.
