In this inventive adaptation, Shakespeare’s Chorus becomes our narrator, guiding audiences through the tangled web of ambition, betrayal and dark prophecy with engaging mode verse. Performed by an ensemble of just six actors, this fast-paced, text-faithful production brings the Scottish Play vividly to life through dynamic multi-roling performance.

Revision on Tour: Macbeth

Set against a backdrop of war, witchery and treason, Macbeth remains chillingly relevant in the 21st century.

If you are studying Macbeth at GCSE… it all starts with this show. A revelation for my English students.

- Darren Pacey, English Team Leader, Crompton House School
All the quotes, all the context and a lot more! A must for all GCSE students.

- Lynn Walsh, MORNING STAR
As one of my students put it, “NOW I GET IT!’
- Alison Morgan, Carshalton Sports College

“What’s done cannot be undone!”

Part of DTC’s highly acclaimed Revision on Tour programme (alongside Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde and A Christmas Carol), this accessible Macbeth is specifically designed to support GCSE English study while remaining entertaining for all audiences.

All matinee performances also include the option to stay for a free 20-minute post-show Q&A with the cast and director, a hugely popular addition for school groups, giving students the chance to ask questions, deepen their understanding of the text and explore the production further.

Not originally intended to be a theatre, the buildings that comprise the Grand Opera House York officially opened in 1902 with Little Red Riding Hood starring Florrie Ford. Since then it has been owned by FJ Butterworth, the Shepherd of Shambles and the India Pru Co. Ltd who spent £4,000,000 restoring the theatre to its former glory in 1987.
